Overcoming Barriers and Moving Ahead (OBAMA) is a youth empowerment program that aims to enrich the lives of high school students in temporary housing, and provides support services and an environment that encourages youth to achieve and succeed.
OBAMA celebrates, recognizes, and symbolizes what youth can accomplish with high expectations, pro-social bonding, applicable life skills, and an academic foundation built with a caring and supportive environment. The OBAMA program seeks to provide students with academic support, social development, and awareness development. Besides, teamwork, life skills, work ethic, and a growth mindset are taught through basketball and arts.
