A Letter from Emory X. Brooks, President & CEO

Welcome to Community Counseling & Mediation’s website!

When I founded Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) in 1982, my goal was to bring together a group of dedicated professionals who would create an array of services that were both culturally sensitive and highly effective in changing behavior at the individual, group and community levels.

CCM’s first programs were developed to work with troubled families in their homes and local communities.  We provided parenting skills training to head start centers; we collaborated with churches and other community institutions to make our services available to their constituencies; we developed networks with other service providers to avoid duplication and we concentrated our efforts in the areas where we have the greatest expertise.

We quickly learned that there was an enormous need for programs that were therapeutic in nature — mental health clinics, services for families affected by AIDS, educational and developmental programs for at-risk youngsters, family-based treatment programs for children whose emotional problems inhibited their academic and social development.

I take great pride in CCM’s growth and development.  Over the past decades we have made a significant and positive impact on the lives of over 100,000 children and families.  Our website seeks to communicate what we do and we welcome your ideas, comments and critiques.

I appreciate your interest in CCM.

Sincerely,

Emory X. Brooks
