CCM’s Comprehensive After School System (COMPASS) offers academic, social and emotional enhancement for youth. Through our programs, children receive educational assistance, learn leadership skills, form meaningful connections with adults, and develop competencies they need to make a successful transition for youth to adulthood. Compass utilizes after-school and summer hours when children are often without parental supervision to develop the young person’s social, emotional and academic capabilities.
It is the goal of our program to serve the needs of families while addressing the special interests and concerns of their children. Our trained staff work daily to provide a quality program designed to promote Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Our weekly activities may include but are not limited to sports, games, arts and crafts, films, field trips, reading, and leisure time. Our programs target children ages 5 to thirteen, living in districts 6 and 17. Our hours will cater to working families who need a safe space for their children to be during crucial after school hours. The goals of our program are; to build upon the school day lessons to open up new worlds and opportunities for youth, to help develop the young person’s social, emotions and academic capabilities, and to foster a safe and secure environment for our participants.
During programming, the CCM team encourages skills that will inform students about their community safety, and healthy life choices. Students are given the chance to receive help with homework assignments, as well as take on key activities that advocate awareness, ignite curiosity, and afford considerable physical activity that will keep them enthused and dedicated to growing into exceptional adults. When schools are closed, CCM offers a holidays Day Camp, where students are able to partake in fun-filled and enriching activities. CCM firmly believe that education does not end with the school day.
