CCM Holds Open House for New Brooklyn Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Clinic, Joined by Esteemed Government Officials for the Significant Event
BROOKLYN, NY – On Friday, May 9, 2025, Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) held an open house for their new child and adolescent behavioral health clinic, Bond Street Clinic, located at 9 Bond Street, 6th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
Dr. Ann Marie Sullivan, Commissioner of New York State’s Office of Mental Health (OMH), was the keynote speaker at this grand opening, and she was joined in giving remarks by Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Commissioner Jess Dannhauser of the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), Assistant Commissioner Jamie Neckles of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Deputy Mayor of Strategic Initiatives to the NYC Mayor, Ana J. Almanzar, Commissioner Laurie Cumbo of NYC’s Department of Cultural Affairs, Assistant Commissioner Julia Breitman of Workforce Development at Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Michael Nieves, President and CEO of Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN), and Douglas Brooks, President and CEO of CCM. Hannah May-Powers, the Health and Safety Policy Analyst at the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, Community School Directors and members of the NYC Law Department were in attendance too, among many other honorable guests. It was a proud moment for CCM and the community at large–and years in the making.
“This is for our future young New Yorkers who will walk through these doors and see a pathway to achieve their full potential,” said Douglas Brooks, President and CEO of Community Counseling & Mediation. “With the community’s support, we are launching our sixth mental health clinic, but the first specifically designed for children and adolescents and their families. So on behalf of CCM’s Board of Directors, our staff, and the thousands of people we serve every year, we want to thank you for your support in raising awareness for the need of mental health services for New York’s young people.”
Office of Mental Health Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan said, “Today, we celebrate the opening of this clinic and the work that will be done to build resiliency in our young people. Our youth face many challenges today and we are there to provide them support to get the help they need when they need it. We thank the leadership of Community Counseling & Mediation for establishing the Bond Street Clinic that will provide specialized care for young people and their families in Brooklyn.”
“It’s essential that children and young people have access to the services and supports they need to thrive,” said ACS Commissioner Dannhauser. “ACS looks forward to working closely with the new Bond Street Clinic in Brooklyn to better support children and families in New York City.”
“I am proud to join Community Counseling & Mediation in opening its sixth clinic dedicated to child and adolescent behavioral health,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “CCM is an invaluable organization that works tirelessly to meet the mental health needs of children in underserved communities. Expanding access to mental health care is just as essential as providing physical health services, yet it is too often overlooked. I’m proud to support and collaborate with CCM in this critical effort.”
“Self-care is crucial for being a functional person; the challenge is embracing it. You should always fight to protect your mental health, just as you would a loved one, because that guarded loved one is you,” said NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Commissioner Keith Howard. “As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, I am thrilled to congratulate Community Counseling & Mediation on the opening of its new Bond Street Clinic. Mental health is a priority of this administration with its historic investments in public schools, shelters, and communities across New York City.”
“The opening of the Community Counseling & Mediation’s Bond Street Clinic will allow more of our young people to have access to the compassionate mental health care they deserve. I’m grateful to CCM for their presence in Downtown Brooklyn and for their commitment to life-saving support for Brooklyn families,” said New York City Council Member Lincoln Restler.
Bond Street Clinic is CCM’s sixth behavioral health clinic across Brooklyn and Manhattan and it will be a beacon of hope in addressing the behavioral health and overall well being of children, adolescents and young adults in the Downtown Brooklyn community. Brooklyn has the highest rate of suicide attempts by Latina adolescents and teens, and nationally, anxiety and depression have been on the rise in children and teens since the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in historically vulnerable and underserved populations. These are just some of the many issues CCM intends to undertake at this clinic, while also providing parents and families with the tools necessary to support their children. Bond Street Clinic is designed to meet this moment, offering evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care in a welcoming and accessible setting. CCM will continue to develop specialized case formulations for each patient and their family, prioritizing sensitivity to individual and cultural needs. With the addition of the Bond Street Clinic, CCM is honored to continue to serve community members at all stages of life.
CCM is a prominent behavioral health organization based in Brooklyn. Since 1982, CCM has been dedicated to tackling the underlying causes of mental illness and substance abuse. Serving over 60,000 individuals and families annually in Brooklyn and Manhattan, CCM offers a wide range of social services. CCM provides culturally competent care in areas such as Mental Health, HIV/AIDS, and Substance Abuse Services; Supportive Housing Services; Education and Youth Development; and Family and Youth Peer Support.
