Seeds To Feed Rooftop Farm at Georgia’s Place

Seeds to Feed is a one-of-a-kind Urban rooftop farm in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, operated by Community Counseling and Mediation (CCM).  CCM was an early adopter of Urban Farming, pioneering the Supportive Housing Rooftop Farm movement.  With the help of a United Way Grant, “Seeds” was developed three years ago on top of Georgia’s Place, our seven story supportive housing residence for 48 formerly homeless and low-income adults.  The farm was developed to help meet the nutritional needs of our residents of fresh, local produce which has long been scarce or non-existent in the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhood.

Located in a produce-scarce neighborhood, this farm is an opportunity for residents to experience the benefits of horticultural therapy while growing their own produce. The farm serves as a major resource for the Prospect Heights and Crown Heights communities.
